Every year we celebrate Dia de los Muertos on November 1 & 2. We take this time to celebrate the lives of the our loved ones that have passed on. Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico are filled with parades, flowers, calaveras, ofrendas and music! But have you ever wondered what all of theses items actually symbolize?
The ofrenda is a way to honor our family and loved ones. Every year I learn more and more about this celebration and what the items on the ofrenda mean, and I wanted to share them with you. One thing you always see at day of the dead celebrations are Calaveras, these are not meant to be scary, but actually symbolize the circle of life, which is why they are so colorful and bright!
This is a public ofrenda that is displayed in Downtown San Antonio. Anyone can add a picture or personal items of their family member that passed on to honor their memory!
I also have an amazing giveaway to support small businesses for Dia de los Muertos! Head over to my Instagram to enter!
