To be a little girl and having dreams of being anything you want to be in this world wasn’t always so easy to come by! For myself reading fairy tales of princesses was great but I knew I wasn’t going to be a mermaid. Even though I would’ve absolutely loved that…the stories were entertaining at the most!
But what if REAL STORIES of REAL WOMEN were made into story books! Sounds amazing doesn’t it? The ladies behind Queen Girls are making it a reality! The multi-cultural team of Jimena Duran, Andrea Doshi and Chiara Fabbri came together to create a book series to empower young girls that through determination they can too be ANYTHING they choose to be!
Introducing “Bessie, Queen of the Sky”
The first book coming out this March will be a fairy tale inspired by the story of Bessie Coleman, the first black woman to hold a pilots license. Bessie’s dream of flying high in the sky is brought to life through the exceptional story telling and illustration of the Queen Girls team!
It’s so empowering for young girls to read a story like “Bessie Queen of the Sky” and feel that it’s possible to reach their dreams!
Gender equality in media and in children’s books has not been represented well. Queen Girls created this collection with the belief that we should be telling our children different stories. They wanted to show young girls they can be more then just the stereotype or the one dimensional characters they are use to seeing.
The future of Queen Girls is bright because of the overwhelming support they received through their Kickstarter program. But what is also wonderful about Queen Girls is for every book bought another is donated to an organization that is empowering girls and fighting illiteracy! I think that is such an amazing way to give back!
Be Apart of the Queen Girls Movement and show your support by ordering your limited edition of “Bessie, Queen of the Sky” today!
Future books that will be released as a part of the Queen Girls Collection are “Isadora, The Rebel Queen”, inspired by Isadora Duncan, a ballerina who danced a more modern “barefoot style” technique. Savi, Queen of Education inspired by Savitribhai Phule a poet and educationalist that became the first female teacher of the first all women’s school. The books will be available in both English and Spanish for ages 4-8 yrs old!
I can’t get over how amazing the Queen Girls collection is, I’m so excited to be Co-hosting an event in the San Antonio area along with a few other fabulous bloggers to give back to our community and raise funds to purchase “Bessie, Queen of the Sky” for Girls Inc of San Antonio, an organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold!
How inspiring for little girls! I love that the books will be available in Spanish and English…I’ll have to grab them for my daughter!
