When I think about my daughter being old enough to start driving soon, my nerves go sky high! Safety for teen drivers is so important to me and that’s why I partnered with Chevrolet to bring you some vital information when it comes to teens and driving habits. They are going above and beyond by offering Teen Driver Technology that is definitely worth reading about especially if you have a teen or a loved one that will be driving soon.
Did you know that in the month of August, nearly 362,000 will be turning 16, becoming the month when most teens start to drive?
According to AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, new teen drivers ages 16-17 years old are three times as likely as adults to be involved in a deadly crash. In fact, there is a concept called “100 Deadliest Days,” the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when the average number of deadly teen driver crashes climbs 15 percent compared to the rest of the year.
This is why educating and informing about how to be responsible when driving is vital for both parents and young drivers. All drivers are advised to take full advantage of the technology found in new models such as:
- “Teen Driver” Technology
This innovative technology works like a digital report for parents. It allows parents to monitor young drivers and provides a safety report including: the speed, if they fastened their seat belt, sets speed limits and even controls the volume of the stereo. This report can serve as a way to initiate the safety conversation with adolescent children.
- Hot Car Incidents
For almost 20 years and in more than in any other state, children in Texas have died inside vehicles that reach extreme temperatures. The new technology “Rear Seat Reminder” reminds the driver when something is left in the rear seats, whether it’s children, pets or other important things.
- Active Safety Features and Advanced Cameras
This technology brings parents a peace of mind knowing that they, as well as their children, have the technology that guides them. These safety features warn the driver of all possible hazards around them, such as the Surround Vision Camera where the driver has a 360 degree view of the entire perimeter of the vehicle. It also includes lane departure warning, frontal collision warning and sensors that indicate the distance between the car in front.
Learning more about the safety features available in cars is so important as you choose your next vehicle that your teen will be driving! Share this post and let your friends and family know about the Teen Driver Technology Chevy offers in their reliable vehicles!
GREAT tips girl- i’m so nervous for my little girl to get her license in a few years ha but i’ll def look back at these tips for help!
Wow some amazing technology that will definitely help teens practice safe driving. I love the teen driver technology function as this will be invaluable on making sure teens are using the right skills on the road.
Driving is SO scary. I’ll be 22 this year and have never sat behind a wheel a day in my life, and I honestly have no plans to. Every time my partner goes anywhere I practically hold my breath until I know he’s reached his destination safely (that’s what a lifetime worth of car crashes throughout your childhood will do to you!), but as long as you’re smart, calm and collected, you can avoid most of the dangers when it comes to driving.
Useful post! The idea of keeping the phone off rather than on flight mode is actually important. Phones can distract teen drivers, especially when someone has headphones on. The list of teen technologies is spot on too!
